My first acupuncture experience.

My husband works in an office environment and as part of his job is constantly sitting down at his desk typing notes and making phone calls to clients.

He started to develop debilitating lower back pain that was decreasing his quality of life, and productivity both at his job and reducing his enjoyment of life at home with his family.

Rather than being prescribed numerous medications and expensive MRIs and tests, he was introduced to a chiropractor and acupuncturist and after a couple of sessions had complete remission of his back pain along with a list of recommendations regarding his posture, work setup, and even how he slept at night.

The costs were far lower than what an expensive examination a regular doctor's office and MRI would have costed.  Additionally there was no risk of becoming addicted to prescription drugs because no drugs were prescribed.

Imagine if every workplace and white collar and blue collar professional environment offered these very services on site inside the workplace ?  This would dramatically improve employee retention, employee satisfaction, and employee productivity, while dramatically lowering employee healthcare costs.

The United States and western medical paradigms are often too quick to rush into treatment modalities and options that are risky compared to the initial symptoms.

When it comes to pain management in particular, there is no more pressing social issue in the United States than the epidemic of opioid addiction that plagues our country.

Much of this addiction started with minor back and musculoskeletal issues that are addressable and treatable with some acupuncture sessions, some chiropractic adjustments and some anti-inflammatory diet and lifestyle modifications.

As they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment and when it comes to avoiding back injuries there is no better treatment than prevention itself.

A chiropractor can educate employees about posture both at work and at home and help them create posture-plans that both improve quality of life and workplace productivity while saving costs in the long run.
